Me mither's here!
Every time I see Doris Day she reminds me of my mom when I was growing up in the mid to late 60's. The way she did her hair, the clothes she wore, the whole shebang. I'm 5'7", my mom is 5'1"... so I'm justified in saying she's cute as a button.
Mom's here, and we had a lovely visit last night. I'm working day shift this week, so when I got home the friend who picked Mom up at the airport dropped her off at my house, and we visited. Bear made an absolutely delicious Paleo lasagna (substituted eggplant slices fried in coconut flour for the noodle part) and we ate like kings. I'd picked up a bottle of Mom's favorite wine on my way home, and we sipped that while we ate. Afterwards, we watched the first two episodes of Downton Abbey. Mom hadn't seen it before, and now she's good and hooked!
Thankfully, the new air mattress arrived just in time, and Bear and I had a lovely sleep on a firm, double-thick airbed. So even though it's just after 6AM and I drank a bit of wine and stayed up late last night, I don't feel like I was dragged nekkid through a briar patch by my ankle. This cup of coffee I'm drinking is helping, too.
Hope the rest of you enjoy your Sunday! May it be full of relaxing and cozy moments, late sleeping, robe-wearing, coffee cup and newspaper moments. May your favorite sports or nature programs be on the telly this afternoon. May you be just in the middle of a really good book, with many pages left to enjoy. May there be plenty of easily re-heatable leftovers in your fridge, or a good Chinese food delivery place close by. Snuggle up!
I'm off to work!

Your relationship with your mom is really really wonderful....enjoy the rest of the visit.
ReplyDeleteWe've already blazed our way through the first season of "Downton Abbey" together! She hadn't seen ANY of it yet! And she LOVES it as much as I do. 8-)
DeleteYour mother's visits always sound really cosy and fun !
ReplyDeleteAs for our Sunday ? It's not below freezing for the first time in a couple of weeks and there's another episode of Ripper Street tonight . Excellent !
I'm SO looking forward to seeing Ripper Street once they put it on dvd... that's another storyline that's right down my alley. HA! Ripper humor!!!
DeleteWhat glorious wishes you've sent us. There is a great Chinese restaurant fairly close, but they don't deliver, so I have to pick it up. And right now, I'm between books, but I remember that delicious feeling you describe.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your mom's visit. xoxox
The trick is to call them up and place an order while you're already out doing other errands, and then just swing by and pick up the yummy stuff just before you return home - that way it's almost like getting delivery, only you don't have to pay anyone a tip! 8-)
DeleteGlad your new air mattress worked like a charm!
ReplyDeleteMy family has been addicted to Heartland - a horse/teen drama series and my Mum had to sit and watch the whole of the second season when she arrived for her visit at Christmas so that she cold catch up and watch seasons 3, 4 and 5 with the rest of the family. They are all now suffering from withdrawal symptoms as season 6 isn't out on DVD till November!
My Sunday was baking and reading in equal quantities rounded off by a full moon meditation at our neighbours' farm down the road and omelettes for supper.
Happy Monday!
I had a Sunday full of relaxing and cozy moments, late sleeping, coffee cup and good book moments. Slight snag - we lost the sports game - still you can't have everything...
